How to Become a Master Diver in the United States Navy

Master diver in the United States Navy ranks as the highest level of diving qualification one can attain in warfare. These enlisted personnel have the most knowledge, experience, and training in all aspects diving and underwater salvage. You must have at minimum 15 years of diving experience and have successfully completed a specialization course to be considered master diver. By taking a specialization class, master diver status can be earned in the United States Navy.

PADI Master Scuba Diver

PADI Master Scuba Diver certification signifies that you have mastered scuba diving. The program can be offered by several North American training agencies like the National Association of Underwater Instructors or the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. This certification is considered the best available. You must be able to dive at least 30 feet underwater during the course.

NAUI Master Scuba Diver

If you're ready to move on to a higher level of scuba diving, then a NAUI Master Scuba Diver course might be right for you. This course will give you the knowledge and skills you need to organize dives with other divers. You will be able use a compass, recognize pre-panic signs, and perform underwater communications. You will also learn how you can lead a dive at a new location. This course is comprised of a classroom session as well as two open water dives.


NAUI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver

Taking the NAUI Enriched Air (NITX) Master Diver course is a great way to expand your diving experience. The course covers all aspects involved in enriched-air diving, including mixing Nitrox with oxygen. The course teaches students how to analyze the breath mixture and how the physiology of nitrogen and oxygen affects the safety of handling the gases. They'll also learn about Equivalent Water Depth and common gases mixing techniques. The enriched air course can be taken as an extension of an open water diver's Scuba Diver certification course, as it is a prerequisite to use the enriched air mix.

NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver

It is necessary to complete the required courses in order to fulfill your dream of becoming an NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver Master Diver instructor. This certification is a requirement for the NAUI FIT training course. You will be able to become a professional NAUI instructor or leader. Start by taking the Try Scuba course. This program will teach you all the skills and knowledge needed to safely dive open water.

NAUI First Aid Course

NAUI First Aid for master divers will teach you how to respond to all kinds of emergencies that could occur in the water. The course includes refresher sessions as well as valuable information about new First Aid standards, training best practices, and other useful information. You will have the knowledge and skills to immediately respond to an emergency. This course allows you to put into practice what you've learned in class.
