
The UIUC Ice Arena is home to many ice skating opportunities. The UIUC synchronized skating team has been nationally ranked and has had their skaters compete at both the national and international levels. Tickets to the UIUC's spring show are $5 for general seating and $7 if you reserve seating.
University of Illinois Ice Arena
Champaign's University of Illinois Ice Arena is also known by the Big Pond. It is owned and operated by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The rink hosts a number of events, including hockey.

Skating opportunities
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign boasts an ice arena which is free to the public. If you're interested in hosting a group event at the rink, there are several steps you should take. You must first make a reservation. You can do this by visiting the Illini Union RSO Office located in Room 284. If you wish to reserve ice time, please make sure that you have a list for all participants. A supervisor must be present at the rink during your rental period to answer any questions.
Center Ice Cafe
The University of Illinois Ice Arena Center Ice Cafe can be accessed by the public. The cafe, located next to the Customer Service Office offers food and beverages. There is also an Ice Arena Pro Shop, which stocks a wide selection of hockey and skating accessories.
Free skate trainers
Champaign, Illinois' University of Illinois Ice Arena (UIUC). It is owned the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The public is welcome to use the ice arena throughout the year. The public can use this rink to practice their skateboarding and figure skating skills.
Spring Show
The UIUC Ice Arena's Spring Show is fast approaching. This event will feature performances both from local skaters and a nationally ranked synchronized-skating team. Many of these local skaters have competed on the national as well as international level. Tickets to the event cost $5 for general seating or $7 for reserved seats.

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has issued an Illini-Alert following a gas leak at its ice arena. The building, located at 406 E. Armory Ave., was evacuated as a precaution after firefighters and Ameren Illinois crews detected a leak. To prevent contamination, firefighters blocked the sideway leading to the arena. The leak may have come from below the building.
