Dani Koyomaru

There are a variety of options for scuba divers wanting to dive in Saint Lucia. You have the option to visit Rosemond's Trench which is smaller but no less impressive. Or, you can explore deeper waters. This is a site known for its impressive coral formations and large schools of tropical seafood. You can also dive here to see the famous Saint Lucia coral reef system.

Just a few miles off the coast is Daini Koyomaru's wreck. In 1996, this Japanese dredger was sunk. The wreck of the ship can still be seen partially submerged. There are visible inscriptions in Japanese or other languages, and upturned decks can be seen.

Dani Koyomaru Dredger

Daini Koyomaru, a Japanese fishing ship, was dredged and is an incredible wreck to dive. It is approximately 74 meters in length and 24 meters high. Sunk on its side, the dredger is now a safe dive site for experienced divers. French angelfish, garden and moray-eels, as well as barracudas, are some of the marine life that live in the dredger.

Another popular St Lucia diving spot is the Lesleen M, an 165-foot Japanese dredger. The reef is home for a variety of interesting creatures such as scorpionfish, flying garnards, and rays, despite its limited depths.

Its establishment was inspired by environmental degradation and conflict among resource users. SMMA was created in response to conflicts between local fishermen (scuba divers) and the SMMA.

Since 2004, Soufriere pitons has been a UNESCO World Heritage location. It is managed as an area of nature reserve, and offers some of the best diving in St Lucia.
