The Tec 40 Diver course teaches you the skills needed to manage emergencies while diving. The course includes three training diving sessions, a confined-water dive, knowledge development sessions, and practical applications. This certification can only be obtained after you have completed at minimum 30 dives. This course will allow you to be eligible for Padi Tec40 courses at universities and colleges worldwide.
Tec 40 course
The PADI Tec 40 course expands on the skills of a recreational diver to include more advanced techniques. The course introduces students to air and trimix65 decompression gases. Students also learn advanced tec deep dive skills. Students in Tec 40 will also learn to master buoyancy control and back gas. Additionally, they will be able to learn advanced nitrox theory.
The Tec40 course emphasizes team diving techniques, self-reliance and communication in water. Students also learn more about decompression theory, which helps them plan dives more efficiently. A detailed session is also provided on equipment configuration and best practices.

The PADI Tec40 course takes around three days. For the course to be completed, students must have completed 30 logged dives. This includes 10 in enriched gas. Upon completion of the course, students are eligible to switch gas and use enriched air to dive to 40 meters.
You must take the Tec40 course
PADI Tec 40 is a great place start if you're interested in technical diving. It bridges the gap between recreational diving and full technical deep decompression diving. It provides the necessary skills for tec diver training. You will be able to decompress to 40m without stopping. You can also use a fully technical rig.
The Tec40 course teaches advanced diving techniques, and emphasizes team-diving and a self reliant attitude in water. Tec40 introduces students also to advanced nitrox theory.
College credit for Tec 40 course
PADI Tec40 course requires three days of diving. The minimum number of dives required is 30 and the maximum of 10 enriched-air nitrox. It teaches divers how they can plan their dives and how to use oxygen and enhanced air to decompress. It also shows the diver how long to decompress and plan. It is the next level in a diver’s training, and opens the door for deeper expeditions. Complete the course and you can earn college credit.

The Tec 40 course can be taken by advanced divers who want more knowledge about technical diving. The course includes planning and using two deco gases (nitrox in stages and 100% oxygen at the end), as well as navigating the multigas computer. The course is appropriate for divers who have completed their PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course and have logged a minimum of thirty dives.
